This vintage issue of Time Magazine, dated September 8, 1930, features Augusto B. Leguía, former President of Peru, on the cover. Leguía served two terms as president, with his second (1919–1930) marked by authoritarian rule and extensive modernization projects known as the "Oncenio." Just before this issue’s publication, he was overthrown in a military coup led by Luis Miguel Sánchez Cerro, ending one of the longest presidential reigns in Peruvian history.
