William S. Knudsen (1879–1948) was a former president of General Motors and one of the most important figures in American wartime production planning. In 1940, as the world moved closer to total war, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Knudsen to serve as Chairman of the Office of Production Management, entrusting him with the enormous task of mobilizing American industry for potential entry into World War II. Knudsen’s expertise in mass production played a critical role in transforming U.S. manufacturing into the "arsenal of democracy," dramatically ramping up production of planes, tanks, and other military equipment.

This issue comes in a plastic protective covering for preservation. We also offer combined shipping upon request.

A valuable piece for collectors interested in World War II history, American industrial power, or the home front mobilization efforts that reshaped the global conflict.
