Manuel Roxas (1892–1948) was the first President of the independent Republic of the Philippines, inaugurated just six days before this issue’s publication, on July 4, 1946. As the leader of the newly sovereign nation following American rule, Roxas faced the immense task of post-war reconstruction and economic stabilization. His presidency marked the transition of the Philippines from a U.S. territory to an independent republic, making this cover historically significant.
