George C. Marshall (1880–1959) was one of the most influential military leaders in American history. Appointed Chief of Staff in 1939, he was responsible for building and organizing the U.S. Army during a time of rapid mobilization as the world edged closer to global conflict. By mid-1940, as depicted in this issue, Marshall was leading efforts to expand and modernize the Army in preparation for America's potential involvement in World War II. He would later go on to serve as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, and was the architect of the Marshall Plan, for which he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953.

This issue comes with a plastic protective covering for preservation. We also offer combined shipping upon request.

A valuable addition for collectors of World War II history, U.S. military leadership, or mid-20th century American political affairs.
