Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim (1867–1951) was a Finnish military leader and statesman, revered as a national hero. At the time of this issue’s publication, Mannerheim was leading Finland’s defense forces during the Winter War (1939–1940), a conflict in which the vastly outnumbered Finnish army resisted the Soviet invasion with extraordinary determination and strategic prowess. A former officer in the Russian Imperial Army, Mannerheim played a central role in securing Finland’s independence in 1917 and later served as Regent and Commander-in-Chief. He would go on to become President of Finland from 1944 to 1946, guiding the country through some of its most turbulent years.
This issue comes with a plastic protective covering for long-term preservation. We also offer combined shipping upon request.
A significant addition for collectors interested in European military history, Finnish independence, or leaders of the World War II era.
